Summary:
Twelve Easter eggs are preparing to celebrate Easter, but Witch Vanisha has other plans for them. When Fofoula the hen leaves her nest, the Witch casts her spells to destroy the eggs and prevent people from celebrating Easter. The eggs disguise themselves into different animals, plants, and objects in order to escape from Witch Vanisha. Fofoula goes on a “treasure hunt” to find her eggs and take them back to the nest.

Reason for choosing the book:
Easter traditional customs are a central part of Greek-Cypriot culture and tradition. For the Greek Orthodox Church, Easter is a much more important religious holiday than Christmas. The book presents several traditional customs and revolves around the ritual of painting and “breaking” eggs during Easter in Cyprus. The book provides opportunities for cultural comparisons, as similar customs are followed in other European countries.
